Constructs are beings powered by magical energy, made up by a variety of different materials. A Tree construct could be powered by fae magic, and made of living plants or trees. Another construct could be made of rock, or metal, or clay. Whatever their material, they are humanoid entities given life by one means or another.
Man-Made Constructs are a relatively new concept introduced a few years before the Civil War broke out. They were originally meant to be strong soldiers and defenders meant for the upper class of the Ulrisin Empire. However, the magic of creating a construct became so popular that most magic schools began teaching how to build and bring to life your own construct companion.
At the offset of the Civil War, they found prominence as disposable soldiers. Most were created to only fight and kill, without deviation from their orders. But after the Civil War, those who survived the final battles had their magic corrupted and gained a sentience of sorts. Now, many wander the countryside looking for a new purpose to fulfill the hole that was left by War.
